Central Florida Moves To Ban Texting And Driving

Proposed legislation to ban texting or using a cell phone in Central Florida while driving is being met with mixed feelings.

The national debate surrounding whether laws, technology or other solutions can best curb accidents caused by drivers that are texting or calling is ongoing. But overwhelming evidence in new studies points to the dangers of cell phone use while driving.

National traffic data from the Fatality Analysis Reporting Systems shows texting while driving is responsible for more than 15,000 fatal crashes over the last six years. The Senate will once again try to pass a texting while driving ban.

Disney is also joining in the fight against texting and driving. After updating its vehicle safety policy, Disney told its cast members they could face a slew of fines and punishments, including firing, if they text while driving.
